The Mount Joy Lions organize and participate in several community service projects throughout the year. Below are some of the projects we participate in.

Community Blood Drives

The Mount Joy Lions Club, in cooperation with the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank, hosts at least two blood drives a year. The blood drives are usually held in February and October.

Food Drives

The Mount Joy Lions Club schedules at least two food drives each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. Our food drives support the Mount Joy Food Bank and the Maytown/Conoy Food Bank.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

The next Mount Joy Lions Club PANCAKE BREAKFAST take place on Saturday, May 4, 2019 beginning at 6:30 am and ending around 10:00 am.  The Breakfast will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at the corner of Main Street and Manheim/Mount Joy Road (Route 772).  The menu consists of pancakes, sausage, eggs, orange juice and/or coffee.  The Breakfast is “all you can eat”.  Tickets are available from any Club member or at the door.  Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under 12 years of age.  All proceeds from this event are used by the Lions Club to support community based programs.

Used Glasses Collections

Eyeglasses Collection

Time of Event: 24 hours day

The Club maintains a collection box for used eye glasses at the entrance of the Milanof-Schock Library on Anderson Ferry Road in Mount Joy.  Glasses are collected and then forwarded to Vision Corps which will, through Lens Crafters, recondition them and then arrange for distribution in third world countries around the world.

WHITE CANE PROJECTS

The Mount Joy Lions Club conducts a number of White Cane Days each calendar year.  During these projects, the Mount Joy Lions Club collects monetary contributions that are used either to provide eye care services for community residents who are unable to afford them or funds are donated to Vision Corps of Lancaster.  Vision Corps provides a wide variety of eye care and educational services to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.  Should you have questions, please feel free to call Lion Carl Spellman at 201-841-9894.   Please check this posting from time to time for specific dates.  Our next event will be scheduled soon.
